Reputation System V2

How your reputation score is calculated since 14 October 2026: rewards, penalties, eligibility, landings and progression.

Reviewed 2026-10-14 · FSHangar App (Windows) 1.4.2

Your reputation score

Your reputation is a single score between 0% and 100%. It is a weighted average of four component scores, each also between 0 and 100:

ComponentWeightWhat moves it
Pilot Performance45%How each flight is flown: completion, landing, speed, braking, excellence, Failure Engine challenges.
Fleet Management35%The state of the aircraft you dispatch: maintenance compliance, MEL items, overdue tasks, NO GO defects, maintenance decisions.
Financial Management15%A periodic review of how your operation is financed.
Integrity5%Use of shortcuts such as Emergency Recovery or Reveal, and clean operation over time.

Rules award or remove component points, not reputation percentage points. A rule worth +4 Pilot points moves your reputation by about 4 × 45% = +1.8 points. Your reputation is therefore never the sum of the event values shown for a flight: the Flight Log shows the real movement of the overall score.

ReputationLevel
0 to 20Reckless Operator
above 20 to 40Struggling Operator
above 40 to 60Standard Operator
above 60 to 75Reliable Operator

Your public level reads New Operator until you have flown 5 scored flights.

What a flight earns

RuleComponent pointsCondition
Valid completed flight+4.0 PilotThe flight is eligible (see below). Reduced to +2.0 after a HARD landing; removed after a SEVERE or EXTREME landing or a critical incident.
Fleet compliance+2.0 FleetEligible flight, aircraft with no overdue maintenance task and no known NO GO defect.
Departure under a valid MEL+1.0 Fleet (instead of +2.0)Same as compliance, with an open MEL item (MEL GO or MEL restricted) recorded before departure.
Excellent flight+2.2 PilotAll excellence criteria below are met.
Integrity recovery+0.5 IntegrityEligible flight with no penalty at all, no Emergency Recovery in the 30 days before the flight ended, and Integrity below 100.
Failure Engine mode+0.1 to +1.0 PilotAdded when the flight session completes, according to the Failure Engine mode (see Integrity and the Failure Engine).

With low or medium component scores, a normal valid flight is worth about +2.5 reputation points (4 × 45% + 2 × 35%), and an excellent one about +3.5. Flights flown in the default Failure Engine Auto mode also receive +0.2 Pilot (about +0.09 reputation points), recorded separately in your reputation history rather than in the flight's own result. Near the top of the scale, gains are smaller: see How gains and losses scale.

Excellent flight

The excellence bonus uses only what the FSHangar app recorded during the flight. All four criteria must be met, and the flight must carry no penalty:

  1. Landing: a NORMAL landing with a touchdown rate of 180 ft/min or less and a load of 1.30 g or less.
  2. Stabilized approach: from the last descent through 1,000 ft above ground to touchdown, vertical speed never above 1,000 ft/min, bank never above 15°, and no flap or gear speed warning.
  3. Clean operation: over the whole flight, no overspeed or stall warning, engines within limits, brake stress of 0.5 or less, and no more than 5 seconds above 30 kt on the ground outside the takeoff roll and the landing rollout.
  4. Complete telemetry: takeoff and landing recorded, no gap longer than 30 seconds in flight, at least 20 samples in the final approach and a recorded touchdown rate.

Missing data never causes a penalty; it only means the bonus is not awarded. Because criterion 3 needs an engine assessment, the excellence bonus is currently available on the Fenix A319, A320 and A321 only.

Which flights count

A flight is eligible for rewards when it is completed and:

  • it spent at least 15 minutes airborne;
  • its departure and arrival airports are known and different;
  • its airborne time is proven: by complete telemetry, by recorded takeoff and landing times, by the airborne span of partial telemetry, or, for a flight with no telemetry, by its recorded flight time.

Some flights never touch your reputation: Simulation Lab flights, flights cancelled before completion, ferries (a ferry costs no reputation) and flights invalidated as duplicates.

StatusMeaningEffect
FINAL — eligibleThe flight is scored.Rewards and penalties apply.
FINAL — not eligibleProven shorter than 15 minutes, or same departure and arrival airport. No completion, compliance, excellence or integrity reward. Penalties still apply.
PENDINGAirborne time not yet proven (for example partial telemetry), or an airport is unknown.Nothing is applied, neither reward nor penalty, until the flight is scored again with complete evidence.

Landing

Each landing gets one classification, from the touchdown rate and the touchdown load taken together: the more severe of the two decides, and a landing is never penalized twice. The app derives an equivalent load from the touchdown rate, because a single recorded g value can miss the touchdown peak. Bounces within 8 seconds count as one landing: the strongest touchdown plus a quarter of the others.

LandingTouchdown rateor loadPilot pointsCompletion reward
NORMALbelow 300 ft/minbelow 1.5 gno penalty+4.0
FIRM300 to below 450 ft/min1.5 to below 1.8 g−0.8+4.0
HARD450 to below 650 ft/min1.8 to below 2.2 g−4.5reduced to +2.0
SEVERE650 to 900 ft/min2.2 to 2.8 g−10removed
EXTREMEabove 900 ft/minabove 2.8 g−14removed

These are component points. The change to your reputation depends on the weights and on your current scores: −4.5 Pilot points is at most about −2 reputation points.

Other flight penalties

EventPointsCondition
Overspeed−1.5 PilotAn overspeed, flap speed or gear speed warning during the flight.
Major overspeed−4.0 Pilot (instead of −1.5)More than two overspeed events, or more than 30 seconds of speed warnings in total.
Excessive braking−1.0 PilotBrake stress above 0.75 (a 0 to 1 index of braking energy).
Critical pilot-attributable incident−10 Pilot, completion reward removedA component suffered critical damage from excessive g, an abnormal flight event, or gear or flap damage caused by speed. Landing damage is covered by the landing classification; engines and Failure Engine failures are excluded.
Overdue maintenance−5.0 Fleet, no compliance rewardThe aircraft has an overdue maintenance task when the flight is scored.
Known NO GO defect−8.0 Fleet, no compliance rewardAn open NO GO defect was recorded before departure. It replaces the overdue penalty when both apply.
Engine misusedisabledSee Engine assessment.

One penalty does not cancel every reward. Only a SEVERE or EXTREME landing or a critical incident removes the completion reward, and a HARD landing reduces it; overdue maintenance and NO GO defects remove the compliance reward. Any penalty, however, rules out the excellence bonus and integrity recovery for that flight.

Engine assessment

On supported aircraft the app compares each engine's EGT with its limits, engine by engine:

  • within limits: permitted, no effect;
  • sustained high power (N1 of 90% or more for 5 minutes) without exceeding a limit: recorded as wear, no penalty;
  • an EGT exceedance (at least 5 seconds above the red line, or 60 seconds above the amber limit): recorded as a technical exceedance with 0 reputation points, because an exceedance alone does not prove pilot responsibility;
  • an exceedance with both thrust levers at TOGA in flight for more than 5 minutes: recorded as an engine-misuse candidate for review.

How gains and losses scale

Every rule of a flight is calculated from your scores before the flight, then applied once, so the order of events never matters.

  • Gains: full value while the component score is 80 or less. Above 80 they shrink gradually, down to 20% of their value near 100.
  • Losses: full value from a component score of 40. Below 40 they are softened, down to 40% of their value, so a struggling operator can recover.
  • Bounds: every component and your reputation always stay between 0 and 100. A gain that would pass 100 stops at 100.

Advanced: exact formulas

ItemFormula (s = component score before the flight)
Gain factor1 if s ≤ 80, otherwise max(0.2, (100 − s) / 20)
Loss factormax(0.4, min(1, s / 40))
Applied pointspositive points × gain factor + negative points × loss factor, per component
Reputation0.45 × Pilot + 0.35 × Fleet + 0.15 × Financial + 0.05 × Integrity, bounded to 0–100
Flight resultreputation after − reputation before

The same scaling applies to the other reputation events below. The wear scale setting no longer multiplies reputation changes: it only changes how fast components wear.

Integrity and the Failure Engine

EventPointsCondition
Emergency Recovery (magic repair), first use−3 IntegrityNo other Emergency Recovery in the last 30 days.
Emergency Recovery, second use−6 IntegrityOne other use in the last 30 days.
Emergency Recovery, further uses−10 IntegrityTwo or more other uses in the last 30 days.
Reveal used before a flight−0.2 IntegrityOnce per flight on which Reveal was used.
Integrity recovery+0.5 IntegrityEach eligible flight without penalty, once no Emergency Recovery has been used for 30 days.

Revealing a scheduled failure costs a little Integrity but does not restart the 30-day recovery wait; only an Emergency Recovery does. Emergency Recovery also lowers that aircraft's operator-care rating.

Failure Engine flight completed inPilot points
Auto+0.2
Random — Easy+0.1
Random — Moderate+0.3
Random — Hard+0.5
Random — Reckless+1.0
Manualno reward

The Failure Engine reward is applied when the flight session completes, independently of the flight's eligibility, and appears in your reputation history rather than in the flight's own result. These values are unchanged by Reputation V2 and may be reviewed separately.

Maintenance and finances

ActionPointsCondition
Preventive maintenance+0.6 FleetA maintenance work order that is not a defect repair completes while the component's condition was between 45% and 92%.
Accelerated maintenance−1.5 FleetOnce per work order you accelerate.
One-flight maintenance extension−0.1, −0.2 or −0.4 FleetCharged once, when the extended flight is flown: up to 5%, 10% or 20% beyond the task's limit.
Ferryno effectRepositioning costs no reputation.
Financial review−0.8 Financial (−1.2 under heavy stress), or +0.9At most once a week, when a work order completes: frequent overdrafts and repeated borrowing in the last 30 days are penalized; an operation financed without outside help is rewarded.

Where you see the result

  • Flight Prep shows your current reputation and the best possible gain for the next flight, in reputation points.
  • Flight Log (website) shows, for each flight, your reputation before and after the flight, the real change and the contribution of each rule. A flight waiting for evidence reads Reputation pending.
  • The Flight Log of the Windows app shows the same real change for each flight.
  • For flights scored before Reputation V2, the change is shown when it can be reconstructed reliably from the recorded history; otherwise the Flight Log says the global impact is not available. Those flights are never rescored.

The same flight can earn different amounts for different pilots, because the result depends on current component scores, the aircraft's condition, eligibility and what actually happened during the flight.

Worked examples

Illustrative values, computed with the current rules for the flight's own result (the separate Failure Engine reward is not included). "New pilot" means the starting scores (Pilot, Fleet and Financial 50, Integrity 100, reputation 52.5); "lower scores" means Pilot 30.3, Fleet 49.6, Financial 37.9, Integrity 51 (reputation 39.25).
