AvailableFailure, defect or system degradation?
Three terms with different meanings.

| Term | Meaning in this guide |
|---|---|
| Defect | A technical problem represented in the persistent aircraft record. |
| Simulator failure | A failure mechanism exposed by the aircraft add-on and activated through a supported integration. |
| System degradation | A system configuration change that reduces capability, without claiming access to a genuine add-on failure mechanism. |
Why the distinction matters
Writing a documented system switch can change how an aircraft behaves without activating its internal failure engine. The Synaptic A220 evaluation confirmed this distinction and recommends a separate degradation provider.
What users should expect
Consult the aircraft capability page. A working telemetry connection does not guarantee failure injection, and an available degradation does not establish native failure support.
Recovery
A maintenance result in the cloud and restoration of an add-on system state are distinct operations. If the visible condition remains, inspect the integration status and report the observed behavior.
